Yvette and Alvaro, Kool Beach Club, Playa del Carmen Destination Wedding

playa-del-carmen-weddingThe tourists and vendors on Playa del Carmen’s famous Avenida Quinta sure have been spoiled with wedding parades this year! Mariachis and beautiful people dressed in nice suits and pretty dresses celebrating down the street have been a regular occurrence on the strip!

Since Yvette and Alvaro were married right at the start of 5th, at the Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the parade was the perfect way to get their guests a few blocks away to the reception at Kool Beach Club

playa -del-carmen-wedding-plannersWe were so touched when we read bride Yvette’s sweet words when she sent us her review. She was a dream to work with and we’re so thankful for our kind hearted clients!

Maria is not only good at what she does; she is good at everything in between. She is reliable, detail oriented, honest, communicative, quick to respond to emails, will go 110% to find what you need, and the day of your wedding, she is ready to take on any situation. Everything went smoothly on our wedding day she was in charge, and took control of everything with a smile! All we had to worry about was having a good time and enjoying every moment with our guests.

Getting Married in Mexico, Legal/Civil Wedding

legal_wedding_mexicoIt’s easy to get lost in all of the exciting aspects of wedding planning. Colors, themes, floral arrangements, the dress, the champagne… the paperwork. Ok, so maybe not that last one, however legal documentation is unavoidable should you wish to be legally recognized as husband and wife, in any country.

You may choose to take care of the paperwork in your home country before or after your ceremony in Mexico, however some of our couples feel strongly about completing the civil union on the day of the wedding. You shouldn’t be concerned about the process here in the Riviera Maya despite what you may have read about it being lengthy or complicated.

Here is the low down on “making it official” in paradise!

WHAT YOU NEED:

Passports: valid passports for bride and groom (must be valid for more than 6 months from the wedding date).

Tourist Card: given to every foreigner on the flight to Mexico.

Blood Test: to determine blood type, HIV, RH factor and Venereal diseases. By law this must be done in the municipality where you get married within 2 weeks from the wedding date.

Witnesses:  4 witnesses with their passports (min. 6 months of validation) and tourist cards.

That wasn’t so bad was it?! Now here is what you should know about the process.

Travel: the bride, groom and their 4 witnesses must be in Mexico for at least 3 complete business days (Saturdays, Sundays & Public Mexican Holidays are not included) before the wedding, not counting the arrival date or the wedding date, to submit all the required documents.

Marriage License (for USA, Canadian and British Citizens): we will obtain the apostle for the Marriage License and will send it to you by courier. The procedure takes around 2 months. This certificate is legally recognized in your country, the same as you would have received at home.

Ceremony: Mexican Law requires a Justice of the Peace to perform the ceremony. Some may perform in English however traditionally this is done in Spanish. There is a short script and you are welcome to have a friend or family member officiate in your language. Please note that the script can not be edited or altered, however you are free to add personal vows.

Playa del Carmen is growing and changing every day. More and more venue choices are popping up and as much as we love exploring new locations, there is always something special about planning a wedding at one of Playa’s landmark locations.
Hotel Lunata has been a part of our city for over 10 years. A charming hacienda style retreat in the heart of the city that has the perfect courtyard for a special celebration. Teresa and Javier had no doubt it was the perfect fit for their May wedding in Playa del Carmen.

Liliana and Etsson, Grand Coral Beach Club, Playa del Carmen

ceremonyIn Mexico, Celebrations are a “go big or go home” type of affair. This was definitely the case for Liliana and Etsson of Monterey Mexico, who brought 120 guests to the Riviera Maya for a gorgeous wedding complete with two ceremonies; one church and one beach front!

churchLavish floral Arrangements and roses were a big part of our decor. The church was romantic and traditional, followed by a beautiful beach themed ceremony complete with starfish and bamboo mats.
